Ukraine's status as a nuclear-weapon-free state is not subject to revision, as it was one of the key conditions for recognizing the independence of this country. This was announced on February 24 by Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko.

"Ukraine's nuclear-weapon-free status was one of the key conditions for its recognition as an independent state. This status is not subject to revision. There should be no nuclear weapons in Ukraine," she said in a message on her Telegram channel.

Matvienko clarified that both she and her colleagues expect that the French and British parliamentarians, as well as relevant international institutions, in response to Russia's appeal, will express their position on the uncovered collusion.

The Chairman of the Federation Council stressed that the associations she listed should, against the background of a secret agreement between British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron, hold them accountable or share it with them in full.

She added that these actions are contrary to international law, and also seriously reduce the level of security both on the continent as a whole, and, above all, for the British and French themselves.

Information about the secret transfer of European components, equipment and technologies in the nuclear field by London and Paris to Kiev appeared on the same day. The Federation Council of the Russian Federation called on these united parties to conduct parliamentary investigations. At the same time, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called the corresponding intention of the British and French sides a blatant violation of international law.

On February 24, Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, pointed out a radical change in the situation against the background of the revealed plan. He clarified that in such a development, his country would be forced to use any weapon against targets in Ukraine that pose a threat to it.
