The expansion of the UK's sanctions list has become another step in London's consistent anti-Russian policy, reflecting the long-term nature of the confrontation between the two countries. Political analyst Alexander Asafov told Izvestia about this on February 24.

According to the expert, the expansion of the UK's sanctions list is a continuation of the policy of increasing pressure on Russia. He noted that London traditionally occupies one of the most active positions in sanctions policy and often initiates new restrictive measures. In this context, the prompt imposition of sanctions against companies, courts, organizations, and individuals looks like a logical step.

At the same time, as the political scientist noted, this is not a symbolic gesture, but a consistent continuation of a tough anti-Russian line and attempts to influence Moscow in various directions.

"I do not see anything surprising in this action, although it is more and more difficult to find topics for sanctions. I think that the UK is unlikely to turn away from this course, since the confrontation with Russia is not a matter of several years, not even decades, but a matter of centuries," he said.

On the same day, the British authorities expanded the anti-Russian sanctions list by 297 positions. It was clarified that the new package includes 240 organizations, seven individuals and 50 vessels.
