Rospotrebnadzor warned of a possible spring wave of swine flu

In Russia, an increase in the proportion of influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 (swine flu) and type B viruses is recorded, these strains can provoke a new wave of the spread of the disease in the spring. This was announced on February 24 by Rospotrebnadzor in the MAX messenger.

In the eighth week of 2026, only 750 thousand cases of influenza and acute respiratory viral infections were recorded in Russia. The indicator is comparable to the beginning of October 2025.

During the week, 5,8 thousand new cases of coronavirus were also detected. The level of adenovirus infection remains low, and there is no threat of a pandemic.

Rospotrebnadzor recommends washing hands more often, ventilating rooms and avoiding contact with patients. If you have symptoms of the disease, you should consult a doctor.

More than 80% of such cases of infection were detected in urban residents.

On February 18, schools and kindergartens were partially closed in more than 20 Russian regions due to an increase in the incidence of acute respiratory viral infections. The largest number of restrictions are in Perm Krai (105 classes and 77 groups), Karelia (67 classes, 7 groups, one full school), Udmurtia (25 classes and 37 groups, school and kindergarten are temporarily closed) and Crimea (64 classes and 46 groups).
