- FT learned about Israel's assessment of the US military potential in a possible attack on Iran
The United States will only be able to launch intensive strikes against Iran for 4-5 days, and its current military potential will not be enough for more. This was reported by the Financial Times (FT) newspaper, citing Israeli intelligence data.
"Israeli intelligence has concluded that even taking into account the imminent arrival of the aircraft carrier Gerald R. Ford at the end of this week, the US military potential will allow only a four- to five—day intensive air attack against Iran or weekly strikes of lower intensity," the material says.
It also points to the growing disappointment of the head of the White House, Donald Trump, due to the fact that the Iranian authorities are not going to give in and limit their nuclear program.
According to experts on the Middle East, Trump has "cornered himself" by promising assistance to the Iranian protesters and placing "a number of military installations" within reach of Tehran.
According to the newspaper, in recent weeks, the American leader has sent the largest group of the American military to the Middle East since the fighting in Iraq.
"Despite Trump's military buildup and repeated threats to use these funds, including for possible limited strikes, Iran has not yet concluded a single deal, which confuses American officials," the text says.
FT claims that the possible loss of Americans as a result of a potential conflict with Iran could lead to a negative reaction within the United States.
On February 18, the Axios portal reported a high probability of a military clash between the United States and Iran. It was noted that the Israeli government is aiming at regime change in Tehran and is already preparing for military operations. The next day, Trump said he was ready to give Iran 15 days to conclude a deal. According to him, this period is the maximum for reaching agreements.
On February 20, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi called the American policy towards his country hostile and clarified that reaching a consensus is possible only if Washington shows respect for Tehran.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, in turn, said that Russia sees an "unprecedented escalation" around Iran and hopes for a diplomatic solution to the conflict with the United States. He clarified that Moscow continues to develop relations with Tehran, and called on the parties to the conflict to exercise restraint.
