Issues related to improving the existing migration policy in Russia will be considered by deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation as a matter of priority. This was announced on February 24 by Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin.

"Issues of improving migration policy are among the key issues on the agenda of the State Duma...> We will consider it as a priority," he is quoted as saying in the material published on the court's website.

The bill, with all the proposals outlined in it, was sent to the Committee on the Commonwealth of Independent States, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots.

It is noted that now, according to the innovations, migrant workers must pay tax in the form of a fixed advance payment not only for themselves, as now, but also for all family members who are dependent on them in Russia. In addition, the period during which these persons will be allowed to stay in the country will directly depend on the duration of the employment relationship with them.

A patent granted to migrant workers may be revoked if its owner does not provide information about his income or if the amount of money earned turns out to be less than multiplied by the regional coefficient of the minimum subsistence level for him and each family member.

"No economy is interested in the social dependence of migrant workers, their level of security should be commensurate with the benefits consumed in the country," Volodin added.

According to him, the proposed measures will expand the mechanisms for monitoring the migrant's income and the legality of his stay, as well as reduce the burden on the social infrastructure of the Russian Federation.
