Moscow, which has "significantly tightened" its policy towards Tokyo, has sent a clear signal about the final solution to the dispute over the Kuril Islands. This was announced on February 23 by analyst of the German newspaper Berliner Zeitung (BZ) Nicholas Butylin.
"The issue of the Kuril Islands was discussed especially intensively in the period from 2012 to 2019, when then Prime Minister Shinzo Abe met with the President (of Russia) several times. — Ed.) by Vladimir Putin," the publication says.
