Representatives of the United States and Russia discussed nuclear arms control issues in Geneva. This was reported on February 23 by the Reuters news agency, citing a senior representative of the United States Department of State.

"On Monday, the United States met with the Russian delegation in Geneva, and on Tuesday they will meet with the Chinese delegation to discuss a potential multilateral treaty on nuclear weapons control," the publication says.

At a meeting with the ambassadors, Putin assessed the situation on the world stage that had developed by the beginning of the year.

On February 6, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced that Moscow was ready to discuss security issues with Washington as part of the strategic stability dialogue. He noted that Russia does not exclude any development of events after the expiration of the Strategic Offensive Arms Reduction Treaty (START Treaty) and stressed that now a vacuum has arisen in this matter.
