- Veteran's payments were offered to protect against foreclosures on mortgages and other debts
In Russia, they offered to protect veterans' payments from foreclosures on mortgages and other debts. As Izvestia found out on February 24, such a bill with amendments to the law "On Enforcement Proceedings" has been prepared for submission to the State Duma by Senator Ayrat Gibatdinov and deputies of the Communist Party faction.
The authors of the initiative propose to protect the monthly monetary payment of veterans from debt collection, making an exception only in the case of debts for alimony, compensation for damage to life and health, or corruption offenses.
"Not paying debts and waiting for the recovery of enforcement proceedings is, of course, wrong and not good. It is better not to have debts at all. But life is often more complicated than all generally accepted dogmas. Circumstances may develop in such a way that a person, for example, needs treatment (and which of the veterans does not need it?) or to carry out urgent repairs in the housing if the pipes burst or the roof leaks. When there is not enough money for such emergency needs, then, unfortunately, you have to get into debt. And then it is not always possible to repay them on time. In my opinion, veterans are people to whom we should all be grateful for protecting our common Homeland, for the contribution they made to its security. Therefore, if they have problems, you need to try to help, and not "bury" them more," Senator, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Airat Gibatdinov explained to Izvestia.
Alexander Yakubovsky, a member of the State Duma Committee on Construction and Housing and Communal Services, reported on February 6 that participants in a special military operation and their family members are provided with a range of benefits when paying for utilities. Combat veterans are entitled to compensation of 50% of housing and communal services expenses, including contributions for major repairs, and are also exempt from bank fees.
