Sochi - CSKA KHL match canceled after threat of drone attack
The Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) regular season match between Sochi and CSKA Moscow, which started with a delay of more than an hour, was stopped after the first period and will not continue on Monday. This was announced on February 23 by the league's press service on its website.
"Due to the repeated announcement of the UAV attack regime on the territory of Sirius and Sochi, it was decided that the Sochi–CSKA match would not be continued. The league will additionally inform you about the decision on the match," the KHL said in a statement.
The game was supposed to start at 17:00 Moscow time, but the start of the meeting was postponed due to aviation danger. The match started at 18:15 Moscow time. After the first period ended with no goals scored, the audience was asked to leave the stands.
The league added that additional information about the future of the meeting will be published later, the KHL reported.
On the same day, it was reported that restrictions on flights at Sochi Airport had been introduced and lifted. They were introduced to ensure flight safety.
