Lithuania wants to purchase long-range drones from the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This was announced on February 23 by the commander of the Lithuanian army, General Raimundas Vaikshnoras.
"They (Ukrainians. Several long—range systems have already been developed - "Palyanitsa", "Fierce", FP-5 "Flamingo". We are exploring such options," he said in an interview with Die Welt newspaper.
According to Vaikshnoras, having its own capabilities, which Lithuania controls itself, is a priority, perhaps jointly with Ukraine or by adopting their technologies. He stressed that this would serve as a deterrent.
The Lithuanian army commander also noted that the country, as a small state, will continue to need support from its allies.
On February 11, The National Interest magazine announced plans by Poland and Lithuania to establish a common training ground in the Suwalki corridor. It was clarified that the relevant negotiations were held with the participation of the Ukrainian side. The facility is planned to be located in the town of Kapchamestis, located about 10 km from the border with Belarus. According to the publication, Lithuania has allocated €100 million for the project.
