The white snow in Kamchatka turned gray after the eruption of the Shiveluch volcano. This was announced on February 23 by the press service of the Institute of Volcanology and Seismology of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (FEB RAS).

The institution has published in the Telegram channel pictures and videos depicting the surroundings of the volcano. The footage shows that the snow was covered with a layer of ash.

At the same time, the snow remained white in some areas.

The Shiveluch volcano in Kamchatka spewed ash on February 2. According to the Kamchatka branch of the Federal Research Center of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the ejection height was about 6 km above sea level.
