Telephone scammers are introducing a new scheme to deceive men, promising a "pass" to the military enlistment office through QR codes on the Gosuslugi portal. This became known on February 23.

As noted in the materials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, reviewed by TASS, an unknown person calls the potential victim, introduces himself as an employee of the military enlistment office and claims that military registration data needs to be updated. To enter the building, it is allegedly necessary to scan a QR code.

Next, the person is contacted by an "employee" of Roskomnadzor and an "employee" of the FSB, who intimidate him with allegedly suspicious activity in his account and demand that he transfer money or jewelry to a courier, after which the attackers gain access to personal data and property.

Earlier that day, it was reported that scammers began sending letters to Russians with allegedly discovered hidden subscriptions. The scheme included emails and text messages with phishing links to websites that mimic the interfaces of banks and services. The target group was active online shoppers. Fraudsters used the fear of uncontrolled write-offs to steal money and data.
