Some of the flight data of the late American financier Jeffrey Epstein from the British Air Force has disappeared due to the expiration of the information retention period. This was reported by the Times newspaper on February 22.

"Some flights date back two decades, but the Royal Air Force retains passenger lists for only three months before they are destroyed. Other information, such as air traffic control traffic sheets with aircraft tail numbers or radio call signs, is stored for two years," the publication says.

At the same time, UK commercial airline documents are usually kept for six to seven years.

It is noted that despite attempts by law enforcement agencies to collect testimony from airport personnel and other possible witnesses, the existing data destruction policy will make it much more difficult to find the necessary information.
