Araqchi announced a possible meeting with Witkoff in Geneva on February 26.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi announced a possible meeting with US President's special envoy Stephen Witkoff, which could take place in Geneva on February 26. This was reported on February 22 by CBS News.
The key topic of the talks will be Tehran's nuclear program. In an interview with the TV channel, the diplomat explained that Iran is now finalizing a draft agreement that should take into account the interests and concerns of both sides.
"I believe that when we meet again in Geneva, probably this Thursday, we will be able to work out these elements and prepare a good text and quickly come to an agreement," Araqchi said.
Araqchi expressed hope for a quick compromise through diplomatic means, but warned that in the event of military aggression from Washington, Iran would launch retaliatory strikes against American bases in the Middle East.
Earlier in the day, Bild announced a possible US military strike on Iran on February 23 or 24. It was reported that, according to Kiriakou, the American government had already made a fundamental decision about the attack.
The Axios portal also reported on the high probability of a military clash between the United States and Iran. It was noted that the Israeli government is aiming at regime change in Tehran and is already preparing for military operations.
On February 17, the supreme leader of Iran urged not to pre-empt the outcome of negotiations with the United States on issues related to the Iranian nuclear program, noting that this was unwise. He noted that such initiatives are actually aimed at forcing Iran to renounce its terms.
