Novak spoke about the preparations for assistance to Cuba amid the fuel crisis
Russia continues to work on providing assistance to Cuba, which is facing fuel shortages caused by the US energy blockade. This was announced on February 22 by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak in an interview with Vesti journalist Pavel Zarubin.
"We are helping, work is underway in this direction, but I would not like to disclose the details now," Novak said.
The United States has resumed the blockade of Cuba, declaring its intention to overthrow the communist government of the republic in one way or another. In particular, Washington has imposed an embargo on any supplies of fuel that is already scarce on the island.
On February 18, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia was calling on the United States to refrain from plans to impose a naval blockade on Cuba, as such steps could seriously destabilize the situation in the region. The Russian Foreign Minister added that Russia will consistently continue to support Cuba in protecting its sovereignty and security.
