Russia's position has helped preserve Venezuela's statehood. This was announced on February 22 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

"You understand perfectly well that if it weren't for Russia's long—standing position, and now as well, there wouldn't be much left of Venezuela's statehood either," she said in an interview with TASS.
