The project "School Day at the Museum" continues to gain popularity in Moscow. In the first academic half of the year, more than 61 thousand schoolchildren attended the project's events — almost 10% more than a year earlier, the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin, said in his channel in the MAX.

Most often, schoolchildren visited the Memorial Museum of Cosmonautics, the Moscow Zoo and the State Sports Museum, the mayor noted. Visiting museums is free for them thanks to the "Museums for Children" project.

This year, six museums joined the project, including the Borodino Battle Panorama Museum and the A.A. Mirek Museum of Russian Harmonica. Today, 44 playgrounds are available to students.

The project was launched in 2017, "so that schools would have the opportunity to conduct interactive classes among the exhibits," Sobyanin recalled. Thanks to the "School Day at the museum," schoolchildren expand the knowledge gained at their desks — "they come into contact with art, history and other sciences," the mayor emphasized.

Also this year, students of the media classes had the opportunity to complete a pre-professional internship in Moscow museums, Sobyanin noted. "During such classes, children not only get acquainted with the expositions, but also perform creative tasks," the mayor said.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
