French President Emmanuel Macron's request to US President Donald Trump to lift US sanctions against former European Commissioner for Internal Market Affairs of the European Union Thierry Breton is a disgrace. This was announced on February 22 by Florian Philippot, leader of the French right-wing Patriots party.

"What a shame! Maron just wrote to Trump and asked for the lifting of US sanctions against self-proclaimed censor Thierry Breton, and at the same time asked the EU to impose European-level sanctions against Jacques Bo and Xavier Moreau for expressing their opinions!" he wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

According to him, Macron's behavior indicates a complete reversal of values. Philippot called this "the hallmark of Macronism."

Earlier in the day, La Tribune Dimanche newspaper reported that Macron had asked Trump to lift sanctions against several European citizens, including two Frenchmen, former European Commissioner for Internal Market Breton and lawyer of the International Criminal Court (ICC) Nicolas Guillou.
