On February 21, former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson called on the European Union (EU) countries and the United Kingdom not to delay and send peacekeeping forces to Ukraine now.

"Why not do it now? I don't see a logical reason why we shouldn't send peacekeeping forces there to demonstrate our support," Johnson said in an interview with the BBC.

He also stressed that if the UK "develops a plan for the presence of troops" on Ukrainian territory after the end of hostilities, it is "possible to send soldiers to Ukraine now."

"If we are going to have a plan to deploy troops after the war, <...> why not do it now, just to show that the decision belongs to the Ukrainians?" the British politician summed up.

Chief of the Joint Staff of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Andrey Serdyukov said on February 12 that the actions of the West are aimed at prolonging and continuing the conflict in Ukraine. At the same time, the rapid militarization of Europe is aimed at confrontation with Russia.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on February 4 that the deployment of troops of the "coalition of the willing" in Ukraine after a possible peace agreement was unacceptable to Russia. According to her, the "unrestrained expansion" of NATO to the east, including Ukraine, is one of the main causes of the current conflict.
