On February 22, the UAE Foreign Ministry reported that 14 Arab Islamist countries, including the UAE, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the League of Arab States (LAS) and the Gulf Arab Cooperation Council (GCC), jointly declared that they condemn the statement by the US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee on the right of the Jewish state to the lands of the Middle East.

"The Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Jordan, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Lebanon, Syria and Palestine, as well as the secretariats of the OIC, Arab League and GCC express their strong condemnation and deep concern over the statements of the US Ambassador to Israel, in which he stated, that it is acceptable for Israel to exercise control over territories belonging to Arab states, including the occupied West Bank," the statement said.

The UAE Foreign Ministry said that the countries that issued the statement confirm their rejection of such inflammatory statements. The statement also says that such statements violate the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, as well as pose a serious threat to the security of the region.

The joint statement notes that the American ambassador contradicts the vision of US President Donald Trump and the Comprehensive Plan to End the conflict in Gaza, which are based on curbing escalation and creating a political framework for a settlement.

Huckabee said in an interview with Tucker Carlson on February 21 that Israel has a biblical right to almost the entire territory of the Middle East. The journalist asked Huckabee about his attitude to the idea of a "Greater Israel," referring to the 15th chapter of Genesis, which describes God's dialogue with Abraham about the gift of land "from the Nile to the Euphrates." He clarified whether Huckabee agrees with the idea that Israel has the right to claim the lands of the Middle East, including present-day Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, as well as parts of Saudi Arabia and Iraq. The ambassador replied that it would be great to take everything.
