The ministry clarified that the initial inspection of the crash site has been completed. The investigation found and seized items necessary for further investigation of the criminal case, including a phone belonging to the pilot. According to the investigation, on February 19, a private Robinson helicopter took off from a site located 130 km from the village of Amaranka in the Romnensky district of the Amur Region and headed for the specified village. The aircraft did not arrive at its destination.
The helicopter was reported missing in the Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Amur Region on February 20. The aircraft was heading from Blagoveshchensk towards the village of Amaranka, after which rescuers and task forces were sent to search for it. Later, the authorities clarified that there were three people on board — the pilot and two passengers. The Amur Civil Protection Center also reported that the helicopter was used in the interests of logging services.
