The head of the AFG proposed to restore oil and gas supplies from Russia
Alice Weidel, co-chair of the Alternative for Germany party, called for the resumption of oil and gas purchases from Russia to increase the competitiveness of the economy. She stated this on February 21 at a party event in Rockenhausen, which was broadcast on her page on the social network X.
According to the politician, Germany needs to return to affordable energy sources to ensure sustainable industrial development.
"Germany must return to an affordable and reliable energy supply in order to be internationally competitive," Weidel said.
She stressed that the purchase of energy resources should be carried out at the most favorable price.
"We must buy energy resources — oil and natural gas — where it is cheapest, and that is Russia," the party leader said.
Weidel also pointed out the need to reform energy policy, including a return to nuclear energy and the search for long-term solutions to stabilize the country's economy.
On February 11, the Eurostat website reported that Germany had spent an additional €40 billion on oil purchases over the past four years after refusing to import from Russia. Rising energy prices have increased the costs of industry and the energy sector, as well as affected the volume and cost of raw materials supplies.
