On February 21, servicemen of the Yaroslavl Guards Parachute Regiment of the Ivanovo Guards Airborne Unit were awarded state awards for their participation in the liberation of Chasova Yar. The solemn ceremony took place in the rear area of the special operation in the Orekhovsky direction in the Zaporozhye region.
The paratroopers were awarded the Orders of "Courage", medals "For saving the dead", "For Bravery", "For military honors", "For Bravery" of the II degree and "Volunteer Soldier", as well as the insignia "For assault" and "Guard". The latter symbolizes belonging to the elite units of the Russian Armed Forces.
"The Guard is exactly what distinguishes the personnel. This is a distinctive badge that gives rise to additional pride, because it can only be earned in battle," said the commander of the Guards Parachute regiment with the call sign Nil.
The shooter of the assault company with the call sign Slim emphasized the importance of competent leadership.
"Of course, I would like to express my special gratitude to our company commanders. Under their strict guidance, we were able to complete all the tasks that were set," the soldier said.
After the award ceremony, the paratroopers returned to their positions in the area of the special operation.
On February 20, servicemen undergoing treatment and rehabilitation at the P.V. Mandryk Central Military Clinical Hospital received state awards for their courage and bravery during the special operation. They were awarded Orders of Courage and medals "For Bravery" and "For Bravery", and the medical staff were awarded medals "For Help and Mercy". The hospital also hosted a festive concert on the eve of Defender of the Fatherland Day.
