Merz will head to Washington to discuss U.S. tariffs
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced an upcoming visit to the United States, where he intends to present Europe's agreed position on the issue of American duties. He announced this on February 21 to the ARD TV channel.
"We need to coordinate with the European Union <...> and I will go to Washington with a common, coordinated position of Europe," Merz said in an interview, speaking about American duties.
According to the Chancellor, the trip will take place in a week. He also expressed the hope that after the decision of the U.S. Supreme Court on the abolition of duties, the customs burden on the German economy will decrease.
