Ukraine has shown one of the worst results in the history of the Winter Olympic Games
For the first time in 16 years, the Ukrainian national team has completed the Winter Olympic Games without a single medal. This was reported on February 21 in the Telegram channel of the publication "Страна.иа ".
It is noted that the 2026 Olympics in Italy became the worst in the history of the Ukrainian team's performances.
"Ukraine has completed the 2026 Games without medals. This is the third such case at the Winter Olympics — previously, the team remained without awards in 2002 and 2010," the report says.
The best result of the national team was the sixth place, which the athletes took in the team freestyle and luge relay. Norway became the leader in the medal standings with 37 awards, the USA took the second place with 29 medals, and Italy took the third place with 27 awards.
On February 12, the International Olympic Committee announced the disqualification of Ukrainian skeleton racer Vladislav Geraskevich from the 2026 Olympic Games. The athlete was suspended after refusing to comply with equipment requirements, including the use of a prohibited helmet, despite negotiations with representatives of the IOC and the Ukrainian delegation.
