- Zelensky discussed with Rutte the upcoming negotiations with the United States and Russia
On February 21, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held a conversation with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, during which the parties discussed preparations for the upcoming trilateral format of negotiations involving the United States and Russia.
"We have coordinated positions on all key issues of our diplomatic activity. And I am glad that in many ways Mark and I coincide," Zelensky said in his Telegram channel.
The Ukrainian leader noted that he had informed Rutte that Kiev was aware of possible changes in the positions of the parties before the new round of contacts. In addition, the parties discussed the situation in the energy sector of Ukraine and the need to continue working within the framework of the PURL support program (English — Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List, list of priority requirements of Ukraine).
Rutte, speaking at a meeting of NATO defense ministers on February 12, said that significant progress had been made in providing security guarantees to Ukraine over the past six months.
On February 10, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the Russian side would demand a specific answer from the West, to whom and for what "security guarantees" were given in Ukraine.
