The situation in Energodar, a satellite city of the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), is deteriorating. This was announced on February 21 by Alexey Likhachev, CEO of Rosatom State Corporation, in an interview with the newspaper Strana Rosatom.

"The Ukrainian Armed Forces fired at and disabled the Ferroalloy line and the open switchgear of the Zaporizhia thermal power plant, as well as the thermal collector that provided heating for the Energy Depot. And if we restored the heat supply quickly — during the day — then it is impossible to resume power supply via the damaged line under the current conditions," he said.

The repair, according to Rosatom estimates, will take several days. However, power supply via the damaged line remains impossible in the current conditions. As Likhachev pointed out, Russia is negotiating with the IAEA on the introduction of a silence regime for repairs on the damaged Ferroalloy-1 power transmission line.

On February 10, the Ferroalloy-1 line was disconnected at the nuclear power plant due to an attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The main pipeline of the heating main was also damaged, which is why the heat supply to residential buildings and social facilities of the Energy Center was temporarily suspended.

On February 9, Evgenia Yashina, Director of Communications at the ZAES, also reported that the situation in the area of the Zaporizhia NPP remains tense due to the ongoing attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. She noted that the only exceptions were periods of "silence", which were used for carrying out repair and restoration work.
