Moscow will be forced to take retaliatory measures if Seoul participates in the PURL (Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List) program, which involves the supply of weapons and military equipment to Ukraine. This was stated on February 21 in a comment by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, on the ministry's official website.

The official representative of the department, Maria Zakharova, stressed that any support for this program from South Korea, both direct and indirect, would only delay the prospect of a peaceful settlement.

According to the diplomat, such a step would negate the possibility of constructive cooperation on issues of the Korean Peninsula.

"This will undoubtedly cause irreparable damage to relations between Russia and the Republic of Korea," Zakharova stated.

She also added that Moscow would not leave such actions without consequences.

"We will be forced to use the right to retaliate, including asymmetric measures," Zakharova stressed.

On December 3, South Korean President Lee Jae-myung stressed that Seoul considers relations with Moscow important and will continue to communicate with it, despite the strained bilateral ties. The leader also added that he expects the Ukrainian crisis to end soon. At the same time, Japan is demonstrating a different approach to the conflict.

According to NHK on February 10, Tokyo officially joined the NATO program, which provides for the purchase of American weapons and equipment for subsequent transfer to the Ukrainian side.
