On February 21, three-time Olympic champion in cross-country skiing Alexander Bolshunov called the events in men's ski racing at the 2026 Olympics a "circus."

While in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, waiting for the start of the Russian championship, the skier admitted that he was no longer interested in broadcasts from Italy.

"I watched skiathlon at the beginning. Understood: come, take the medals and leave. Everything is simple. That's why I'm not watching anymore. It's a circus," the newspaper Sport-Express reports him as saying.

Norwegian Johannes Klebo became the winner of all six races at the Olympic Games in Italy in the men's competition. In addition to his triumph in Italy, the decorated skier has three victories at the 2018 Olympic Games in Pyeongchang and two gold medals at the 2022 Games in Beijing.
