Buckingham Palace will not object to plans to exclude ex-Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor from the royal line of succession. The Guardian writes about this on February 21.

"King Charles III will not obstruct parliament if it wants to guarantee that the former prince will never be able to ascend the throne," the publication says.

Mountbatten-Windsor, who was arrested and interrogated on his 66th birthday on February 19, is still officially a state councilor - a member of the royal family group who can replace the king in case of his illness or absence. However, as the publication has learned, only working members of the royal family are asked to replace the king.

The ex-prince also remains eighth in line to the throne, despite being stripped of all royal titles.

"In order to exclude him from the succession to the throne, it will require the adoption of new legislation, which must receive the support of members of parliament and peers, as well as the consent of the king. In addition, it should be supported by 14 countries of the Commonwealth [of Nations]," the authors of the article noted.

On the same day, it became known that the United States had not informed the British royal family in advance about the availability of materials about King Charles III's brother Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, who was later stripped of the title of prince, in a recently published batch of files on the case of notorious financier Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew lied about the length of his relationship with Epstein, not only to the public, but also to his family, who accepted his version of events.

In addition, on February 20, it was reported that more than 80% of UK residents consider it necessary to exclude Prince Andrew from the line of succession after the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.
