The Moscow government has signed 11 long-term government contracts for the installation and maintenance of fast charging stations for electric vehicles. This was announced by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin in his channel in the MAX messenger.

"The Moscow government will undertake the installation of ready-made points for the placement of EHS in street and city parking lots with a barrier in different parts of the city. And the operators will be engaged in the installation, operation and maintenance of the EHS for seven years in compliance with strict requirements and standards," said Sergei Sobyanin.

This solution is aimed at advancing the development of charging infrastructure in the context of the rapid growth in the number of electric vehicles. Since 2015, their fleet in the capital has increased by more than 150 times and today stands at 40.4 thousand units. According to experts, it could grow to 320,000 by 2030.

The city's infrastructure already includes more than 460 ultrafast charging stations for electric buses and about 10.7 thousand charging stations for electric vehicles. However, further expansion of the network, especially fast stations, is required to ensure the availability of charging in different parts of the city.

"This year we expect to install about 550 fast charging stations. To ensure the competition of operators, one state contract provides for the installation of no more than 50 EPPS," added the Mayor of Moscow.

As part of the contracts, the city will arrange parking points, including the supply of electrical power and the installation of foundations. The operators will be responsible for the installation and maintenance of the equipment for seven years.
