The ultimatum from Hungary and Slovakia to cancel the supply of diesel fuel to Ukraine has put Kiev in a desperate situation regarding the restoration of transit through the Druzhba oil pipeline. This was announced on February 21 by former Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov.

"She (Ukraine. — Ed.) has been put in an almost hopeless situation because Hungary and Slovakia have issued an ultimatum, they have stopped supplying diesel fuel. They will stop supplying electricity, which is urgently needed by the Kiev regime, if the Kiev regime does not restore the Druzhba oil pipeline. Let's see what outweighs that," he said in an interview with TASS.

Azarov also said that Kiev spends electricity not on the needs of the people, but on creating drones.

On February 4, the EU press service reported on the refusal of Prague, Budapest and Bratislava to participate in the €90 billion financing scheme for Ukraine. It was noted that according to the idea of the alliance, this amount should be provided to Kiev for the period from 2026 to 2027. On February 19, Siirto, commenting on the actions of the European Commission (EC) in the interests of the Ukrainian side, said that Kiev's representatives had begun "explicit political blackmail of Hungary" by blocking oil supplies via the Druzhba oil pipeline.
