Forecaster Shikhov warned of severe frosts in the regions of Siberia
Abnormal frosts with a temperature deviation of up to 18 degrees below normal are expected in the regions of Siberia in the coming days. This was announced on February 21 by Andrey Shikhov, Professor of the Geography Faculty of Perm State National Research University.
According to him, the most severe cold snap is forecast in the northern regions.
"From the anomalous: the severe cold snap in Siberia, which will be in the coming days, is very serious for the autonomous okrugs of the Khanty—Mansi Autonomous Okrug and the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District. A deviation from the norm is predicted for the next five days: 15-18 degrees below normal," the scientist told RIA Novosti.
He added that temperatures may reach their lowest levels since the beginning of the winter season.
"In some areas, the lowest temperatures since the beginning of winter are likely to be recorded," Shikhov stressed.
At the same time, according to him, weather conditions in the Volga region regions will remain close to the climatic norm in February.
Marina Makarova, a leading employee of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center, said earlier in the day that snowy weather would continue in Moscow in the coming days, but the intensity of precipitation would be significantly lower than during the snowfall on February 19. She noted that a change in atmospheric circulation would lead to the arrival of western cyclones with less precipitation. According to her, it will snow regularly, but without heavy snowfalls. The forecaster also explained that the most intense precipitation is usually associated with southern cyclones, which are not expected in the near future.
