Moscow has the lowest death rate in road accidents among Russian regions by the end of 2025. This became known on February 21 from the statistics of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

According to the department's data, which was reviewed by TASS, the death toll in road accidents in the capital was 2.2 people per 100,000 population. This is the lowest level among all Russian regions. Moscow has been among the leaders in road safety for several years, demonstrating a steady decrease in mortality.

The Interior Ministry stressed that the decrease in indicators was the result of comprehensive work to improve road safety. Representatives of the department previously noted the importance of following traffic rules. According to statistics, the Nenets Autonomous Okrug, St. Petersburg and Chechnya are also among the regions with low mortality. At the same time, the highest rates were registered in Tuva, Kalmykia and the Altai Republic.

The State Traffic Inspectorate of the Russian Interior Ministry reported on February 20 that 195 road accidents occurred on the country's roads during the day, in which 22 people were killed and 234 injured. Most of the victims were drivers and passengers of vehicles. There were also 17 accidents involving buses and 62 incidents involving pedestrians, including minors. The ministry recalled the need to follow the rules of the road and be especially careful in winter.
