The linguist reported on two languages in Russia with a single native speaker
In Russia, there are two languages that have only one native speaker, Itelmen and Mednovsky Aleut. This was announced on February 21 by Olga Kazakevich, Head of the Laboratory for Research and Preservation of Small Languages at the Institute of Linguistics of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
"Two Russian languages have one competent native speaker each. These are Itelmensky and Mednovsky Aleut," Kazakevich told RIA Novosti.
