The coaching staff of the Canadian national ice hockey team had no doubt that after the video review, the referees would count Nathan McKinnon's puck against Finland in the semifinals of the 2026 Olympic Games. This became known on February 20.

McKinnon scored the winning goal in the last minute of the third period.

It was noted that the referees studied the episode for a possible offside position during the Canadian team's attack.

"I have no idea what was there. In such moments, you never know whether you're "out of the game" or not. Our coach said it was a goal five times," McKinnon said.
