Polish short-track skater's face was cut with a skate in the quarterfinals of the OI-2026

On February 20, Polish short-track speed skater Camila Cellier had her face cut by a skate during the 1500 m run in the quarterfinals at the 2026 Olympic Games (OI-2026).

"At the turn, the 25-year-old athlete was hit in the lower part of the eye socket by the blade of American Kristen Santos—Griswold's skate and fell unconscious," Sport-Express reported.

She was hospitalized with severe swelling, a cut and bone damage. The American short-track athlete was disqualified.
