- The Rada announced the dates of the presidential and parliamentary elections in Ukraine
Presidential elections in Ukraine may be held in the fall of 2026, and parliamentary elections in the spring of 2027. This was reported on February 20 by the Ukrainian edition of Insider.
According to sources in the Verkhovna Rada, deputies have already stepped up preparations for the election campaign. In particular, some of the party leaders notified the regional headquarters of the expected voting dates. Presidential elections are scheduled in the fall of 2026, and parliamentary elections in the spring of 2027.
The possibility of holding a vote without lifting martial law is also being discussed. According to the source, it is allowed to hold elections even during an armed conflict, if an appropriate political decision is made. Against this background, some parliamentarians are considering creating new political projects or switching to other parties in order to maintain political influence.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin reported on February 15 that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky was discussing the election with Western partners amid a difficult domestic political situation. According to him, the Ukrainian authorities are considering various scenarios for organizing voting, including possible changes to procedures. Galuzin noted that Kiev also pays attention to the issues of citizen participation abroad and within the country. He added that the Ukrainian leadership is exploring options that can help preserve the current government.
