Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law allowing monthly payments to large families to be maintained with a slight excess of income. This was announced on February 20 on the official Internet portal of legal information.

According to the document, the allowance is retained if the average per capita family income exceeds the regional subsistence level by no more than 10%. TASS notes that the law will allow to keep payments at a slight excess of the average per capita income. In addition, it is emphasized that decisions on the refusal to assign benefits, made on January 1, 2026, will be reviewed automatically.

Changes have been made to the federal legislation on accounting in compulsory pension and social insurance systems. The amount of the single benefit will be 50% of the regional subsistence minimum per child. The law will enter into force 90 days after its official publication.

The Federation Council reported on February 18 that senators approved a law on maintaining payments to large families when income exceeds no more than 10% of the minimum subsistence level. The document provides for the payment of an allowance in the amount of 50% of the regional subsistence level per child. After the law comes into force, refusals issued on January 1, 2026 due to a slight excess of income will be automatically reviewed. Federation Council Chairman Valentina Matvienko also thanked the President for his attention to the issues of social support for families.
