Ski climber Filippov was given a payment for the OI-2026 silver medal

On February 20, Nikita Filippov, a Russian ski mountaineer, silver medalist at the 2026 Olympic Games (OI-2026) and the first Russian medalist, was awarded a monetary reward from the Kamchatka Territory, where he hails from.

"Nikita Filippov will receive a payment of 839,743 rubles (730,576 rubles) for a silver medal at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Italy, and 419,872 rubles (365,289 rubles) for the training of an athlete," the statement said.

The press service of the Governor of the Kamchatka Territory, Vladimir Solodov, told TASS that this payment is required by local law.

The day before, Filippov took second place in the ski mountaineering competition at the Olympic Games, becoming the first athlete from Russia to win a medal. He covered the distance in 2 minutes, 35.5 seconds. The athlete performed in a neutral status, without national symbols.
