The State traffic Inspectorate announced continuous inspections in Russia

On Friday evening, as well as on weekends and holidays (February 20-23), motorists will be checked on Russian roads. Traffic police will pay special attention to the problem of drunk driving, the regional departments of the State Traffic Inspectorate announced the raids.

Preventive measures will be held on the roads of Moscow and Sevastopol, Kursk, Arkhangelsk, Samara, Ryazan, Smolensk, Kirov, Ivanovo and Ulyanovsk regions, as well as in the Komi Republic and other regions of the country.

"Driving under the influence of alcohol is a gross violation of traffic regulations, which leads to the most serious consequences. Do not put yourself, your passengers, and other road users at risk: avoid driving after drinking alcoholic beverages. Citizens who see that the car is being driven by a driver in an inadequate condition should definitely report this to the police. According to such reports, the staff of the State Traffic Inspectorate will immediately take all necessary response measures," said Police Colonel Anton Belan, Deputy head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child traffic Injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

The State Traffic Inspectorate recalled that driving under the influence of alcohol, as well as refusing a medical examination, entail the deprivation of a driver's license for a period of one and a half to two years and a heavy fine. In addition, in some cases, the driver faces criminal liability for these acts, the traffic police emphasize.

Earlier, on February 16, it was reported that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation has developed a draft government decree, which proposes to conduct preliminary testing of the driver for intoxication by saliva.
