Milk yields in the Stavropol Territory increased by 4.7% over the year. In 2025, 595.4 thousand tons of this product were produced, the press service of the regional government reported on Friday, February 20.

In the current 2025, 200 million rubles will be allocated to support dairy farming. The money will come from the federal and regional budgets, writes IA StavropolMedia. About 40.1 million rubles will be used to support milk production, 45.8 million rubles will be used to help breeding dairy cattle, and another 114.1 million rubles will be used to purchase young cattle.

From 2026, only those farms that are included in the register of small and medium-sized businesses can receive state support for milk production. Assistance is not canceled for large manufacturers, but it will be provided in a different format. For example, they can expect to be compensated for part of the cost of building dairy farms and preferential loans.

Earlier in February, Izvestia wrote that Russia had recorded a record oversupply of raw milk — by the end of 2025, 73.5 thousand tons of unsold product had accumulated in farmers' warehouses, which is 9% more than a year earlier. This was caused by the increase in imports of dairy products from Belarus and the fact that domestic demand for these goods from Russian consumers is not increasing.
