A "green wave" will be launched on motorways in Moscow
A "green wave" will be launched on 14 motorways in Moscow. The traffic lights will be synchronized in such a way that, if the speed limit is met, you can drive several sections of road in a row at a green signal. This mode will work from 00:00 to 05:00, the Metropolitan Department of Transport announced in its Telegram channel on February 20.
The Green Wave will operate on Dmitrovsky, Altufyevsky, Shchelkovsky, Kashirsky, Varshavskoye Highways, Ryazansky, Volgogradsky, Leninsky and Michurinsky Avenues, Entuziastov Highway, Andropov Avenue, Lipetsk and Trade Union Streets, as well as Vernadsky Avenue.
As explained in the department, during the "green wave", the traffic light permitting traffic turns on sequentially: the system takes into account the distance between the traffic lights, the actual and permitted flow rate.
As an example, Vernadsky Avenue is given, which can be overcome without stopping at a red light if you move at a speed of about 55-60 km/h.
According to the idea of the Traffic Management Center (TSDD), the new mode will ensure unhindered travel along highways, reduce travel time and make trips more comfortable, as well as help to evenly distribute traffic flow and reduce the number of local congestion.
On February 17, the data center installed 470 "smart" cameras on the Moscow High-speed Diameter. Unlike conventional traffic cameras that record traffic violations, such complexes recognize 15 types of dangerous incidents. The number of such cameras on the MSD has reached about 2 thousand units, they automatically analyze the video stream using a neural network.
