Perfumes, sweets and money turned out to be the most desirable gifts for the holidays of February 23 and March 8, and alcohol is a universal option that more than 70% of respondents are ready to receive. The Simple Group shared such survey data with Izvestia on February 20.
Perfumes and cosmetics (27%), sweets (23%), clothing and accessories (19%) were among the most popular gift ideas for Russians by February 23 and March 8. At the same time, there was a significant increase in interest in money (from 16% to 19%) and certificates (from 15% to 18%) — options that allow the recipient to choose a gift to their liking.
At the same time, alcohol remains a universal gift option — 12% of Russians intend to present it. And more than 2/3 of the respondents are ready to receive it — 71%. Men would like whiskey (26%), brandy (16%) and French cognac (15%), while women would like sparkling wine (25%), French champagne (20%) and still wine (15%).
The wishes for the gifts are noticeably different. On Defender of the Fatherland Day, men are especially looking forward to electronics and household appliances (23%), construction and repair goods (14%), as well as clothing, shoes and accessories (13%). Women prefer jewelry (32%), cosmetics with perfumes (29%) and gift certificates (26%). At the same time, money remains the leader among preferences — 36% of men and 40% of women would like to receive it.

holidays. This year, by February 23, vodka (18%), sparkling wine (14%) and whiskey (13%) are most often chosen. By March 8, bubbly wines traditionally come out on top (24%), still wines come in second (15%), and vodka comes in third (12%). According to the survey, there is also a growing interest in non-alcoholic wine: the number of respondents choosing it for the festive table has increased: from 3% in 2024-2025 to 4% this year.
A study by HYUNDAI brand experts on February 19 showed that the ideas of men and women about what a gift should be for Defender of the Fatherland Day differ significantly. Thus, 40% of respondents are going to give a symbolic gift, while representatives of the stronger sex dream of receiving useful gifts as a gift — tools (50%), equipment (36%) and gift certificates (29%).
