Moscow State Traffic Inspectorate to conduct "Drunk driver" raid
In order to prevent and suppress gross traffic violations, the Moscow State Traffic Inspectorate will hold a preventive event "Drunk Driver" from February 21 to 23. The agency announced this on February 20 in its Telegram channel.
The Moscow traffic police called on all road users not to remain indifferent to the problem of drunk driving, and promptly inform the police about drivers who behave inappropriately on the road and pose a danger to themselves and others. Employees of the Moscow State Traffic Inspectorate are ready to take prompt measures to respond to reports of drunk driving.
"Once again, we warn drivers about the consequences of drunk driving — such facts often lead to tragedies. Do not make irreparable mistakes, if you have been drinking, do not get behind the wheel!" the department stressed.
The last Drunk Driver raid took place in Moscow on January 23-25. As a result of the event, 299 cases of drunk drivers driving vehicles were suppressed, including 82 drivers who were intoxicated, 217 drivers refused to undergo a medical examination. Three drivers were also detained on the grounds of a crime, the responsibility for which is provided for in Article 264.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
Earlier, on February 16, it was reported that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation has developed a draft government decree, which proposes to conduct preliminary testing of the driver for intoxication by saliva. Based on its results, the issue of the driver's removal from control and the further procedure for his examination for intoxication will be resolved.
