Electric vehicles of the new UMO brand began to be produced at the Moskvich plant
The Moskvich plant has launched production of new EVM electric and hybrid vehicles under the UMO brand. Yandex became the technological partner of the project. This was announced on February 20 during an event at the enterprise by First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov and Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.
According to Manturov, the project is the result of joint efforts by business, the state and the Moscow City hall. EVM will receive a number of preferences in return for increased localization obligations under a special investment contract (SPIC), he said. The First Deputy Prime Minister noted that Yandex has provided cars with elements of artificial intelligence (Alice), its own navigation and multimedia services.
"Four models are currently being produced, and four more models will be introduced and launched by the end of the year, including today's Yandex UMO electric car, which will mainly work to provide taxi services," Sobyanin said.
Alexey Kudrin, Corporate Development Advisor at Yandex, said that the electric car was named UMO 5 (Urban City Mobile). About 100 cars have already been produced, and they will be offered to both taxi companies and individuals.
As previously reported by the Avtopotok Telegram channel, the UMO 5 electric car is a "clone" of the Chinese GAC Aion Y Plus. The project is led by the Yandex division.Electro". Previously, the cost of the electric car will be 2.4 million rubles. The UMO 5 is equipped with a 204 hp engine, and the maximum power reserve ranges from 300 to 400 km.
Earlier, on January 30, it was reported that the Russian Atom electric car should go on sale in April 2026. For those who pre-order, the price is 3.9 million rubles, and when buying on credit or leasing, there is a state subsidy of 925 thousand rubles, said a representative of the Kama company.
