So, in the Republic of Dagestan, during the daytime, on 3 km of the Magaramkent— Akhty—Rutul regional highway, a 46-year-old car driver fell asleep at the wheel and drove into the oncoming lane, where he collided with another passenger car driven by a 35-year-old motorist. Another passenger from the car responsible for the collision was hospitalized with injuries.

On the eve of weekends and holidays, the State Traffic Inspectorate recommended that motorists comply with traffic regulations and avoid creating accidents on the road.
"Remember that not only your own life and health are in your hands, but also the lives of other road users, including the lives and health of your own passengers, who depend on your discipline, well—being and driving experience. Be sure to alternate between work and rest, always going on a trip well rested and without the slightest signs of malaise," said Police Colonel Sergey Hrantskevich, head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of child traffic injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
In winter, you should be extremely careful when driving a car: refrain from sudden rash maneuvers and lane changes, observe the interval and distance between vehicles, and choose the speed limit taking into account weather conditions, the department noted.
When planning trips, the State Traffic Inspectorate recommends that drivers and passengers always monitor the weather forecast, as well as media reports from traffic closures or restrictions. In case of a negative weather forecast, it is recommended to refrain from traveling long distances until the road conditions improve, and to use public transport services in urban conditions.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia has developed a draft government decree, which proposes to conduct preliminary testing of the driver for drug intoxication by saliva. As noted on February 16, according to its results, the issue of the driver's removal from control and the further procedure for his examination for intoxication will be decided.
