In Transbaikalia, more than 360 shops selling alcohol in apartment buildings were stripped of their licenses. This was the largest step of the anti-alcohol campaign, said Olga Makarova, deputy head of the regional tariff service, on Friday, February 20.

In total, there were about 700 such outlets in the region. Of these, 454 had a license, and 229 worked without it. To date, the license has been withdrawn from 364 sites, the rest are in the process of exclusion.

Another 50 alcohol markets that fall under the new restrictions are currently being checked. Among illegal sellers, 117 have completely stopped buying "hot" drinks, and about 30 have changed their business profile.

According to Makarova, alcohol sales in the region have decreased compared to August 2025. At the same time, the largest decrease was recorded in places with developed apartment buildings.

According to the ChitaMedia news agency, the authorities of many municipalities have restricted the location of alcohol dispensaries near temples, schools, hospitals and military units. In 27 districts, alcohol can be sold only at a distance of at least 100 meters from such facilities. In three more districts, the approach is differentiated, and in some the work on the implementation of restrictions is slower.

The authorities of Transbaikalia announced plans to reduce alcoholism in the spring of last 2025. A special commission was created, which included all departments and organizations working in this area. Since then, the region has limited the time for the retail sale of alcohol in dispensers, during holidays and in the courtyard of residential buildings.
