Improper washing can lead to dryness, irritation and disruption of the protective barrier of the skin. Elena Anoiko, cosmetologist at SM-Cosmetology, told Izvestia about this on February 26.

One of the most common mistakes is washing your face with too hot water. According to the expert, many people believe that high temperature helps to remove impurities better, but in practice it works the other way around.

"Hot water destroys the protective lipid barrier of the skin, washing out not only impurities, but also natural oils necessary for moisture retention. As a result, the skin becomes dry, sensitive, redness and a feeling of tightness appear," the doctor explained.

She called warm or slightly cool water about 30 degrees optimal for washing. As the doctor noted, another common mistake is the use of aggressive cleansers with harsh surfactants. Such products actively foam and create a feeling of "squeaky clean", but it is this effect that should alert.

"The skin should not creak after washing. This is a sign of damage to the epidermal barrier. In response to over—drying, the sebaceous glands begin to work more actively, and as a result, the skin becomes even more oily and prone to inflammation," Anoiko warned.

As the cosmetologist emphasized, micellar water also requires special attention. So, despite its popularity, many people use the product incorrectly, without washing it off the skin after use.

"Micelles contain surfactants that can cause irritation upon prolonged contact. After removing makeup with micellar water, you should additionally wash your face with water or a mild cleanser," the doctor noted.

Another common mistake, the specialist called the frequent use of brushes and scrubs. Mechanical cleansing gives a temporary feeling of smoothness, but it can damage the protective layer of the skin and increase its permeability. As a result, the risk of dryness, inflammation, and allergic reactions increases.

The cosmetologist also warned against using hydrophilic oil too often. She recalled that this product is primarily designed to remove heavy makeup and high-SPF products. With regular use, hydrophilic oil can destroy lipids and ceramides of the skin, causing dryness. In addition, it necessarily requires subsequent cleansing with a basic remedy.

In conclusion, the specialist recommended giving preference to soft gels and foams with neutral pH and gentle surfactants, as well as cleansing creams that not only remove impurities, but also maintain the skin's moisture level. Micellar water should be chosen without alcohol and always washed off after use, the expert concluded.

On February 15, Ekaterina Shadrina, a cosmetologist and dermatologist at SM-Cosmetology, said that both hardware and injection techniques are used to get rid of stretch marks on the body, which can be formed due to hormonal changes and changes in body volume. She clarified that laser treatment is considered one of the most effective methods, since it activates the synthesis of collagen and elastin, which improves skin density, smoothes its relief and reduces the severity of stretch marks.
