The Meshchansky District Court of Moscow has received a statement of claim from Timur Ivanov, the former Deputy Minister of Defense of Russia, who was convicted of embezzlement, where he asked to be sent to a special military operation. This was reported on February 20 in the press service of the courts of general jurisdiction of the capital.

"Today, the Moscow court received Timur Ivanov's lawsuit against the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and the Military Commissariat of the city of Moscow," the Telegram channel said in a statement.

It is noted that the plaintiff asks to recognize the inaction of the defendants as illegal and send him a response to the appeal about the desire to conclude a military contract for sending to the special operation zone.

Yesterday, Ivanov's lawyer Denis Baluyev said that the former deputy Minister of Defense appealed to the Ministry and the Military Commissariat of Moscow in connection with ignoring his statements about sending him on a long-term military operation. It was clarified that Ivanov applied to the Single point of selection for military service under a contract in Moscow with a statement of his desire to conclude a contract for any military position in his military area.

The former deputy minister was detained on April 23, 2024 on charges of accepting a bribe. According to investigators, Ivanov entered into a criminal conspiracy with the heads of contractors working at the facilities of the Ministry of Defense, and signed contracts with them in exchange for personal rewards. In July, he was sentenced to 13 years in prison and fined 100 million rubles.
